Common questions
Will Tempus make us Martyn’s Law compliant?
No product can on its own. Compliance means having reasonably practicable procedures, staff who know them, and notifying the SIA. Tempus makes lockdown, evacuation, invacuation and communication fast and consistent, and records what happened.
Do we need new cabling?
Usually very little. Tempus uses your existing network, and SchoolSafe PA can reuse the 100V speaker cabling you already have. The site survey confirms exactly what’s needed.
Does it rely on the internet or the cloud?
No. Tempus Manager runs on a server in your building, and lockdowns work without internet access. Tempus Cloud is an optional extra for remote monitoring and support.
We already have a PA system.
Good news. SchoolSafe PA works as a full IP system, as a hybrid of 100V and IP, or as an upgrade to an existing 100V system, so your current speakers can often stay. Existing SchoolSafe customers can add Tempus directly.
Is live staff positioning GDPR-friendly?
It’s designed to be. You set retention per role (including “live only”), mark private areas, limit who can see trails, and every look is logged. Data stays on your premises.
We’re considering an app-based lockdown solution. How is Tempus different?
Tempus Agent takes over staff computers in a lockdown rather than just sending a notification. It runs from a server on your premises, so it works without the internet. It also grows into PA, displays and panic alarms without a second system. Many sites start with Tempus Manager and Tempus Agent alone. See desktop alerts.
Can we start small?
Yes. Many sites start with desktop lockdown alerts using Tempus Manager and Tempus Agent, or with PA and lockdown, then add the other parts over time. More parts can be switched on later with a licence key, with nothing to reinstall.
